Brandon Lloyd Smiles, Scores Photogenic Touchdown For New England Patriots (PHOTO)
Lloyd will be reunited with Josh McDaniels, the Rams’ offensive coordinator who was the head coach of the Broncos last season when the receiver led the league with 1,448 yards receiving, catching 77 passes, 11 of them for touchdowns. “That helps tremendously. There shouldn’t be any kind of learning curve,” Rams general manager Billy Devaney said. The 30-year-old Lloyd is in the final year of his deal that pays him about $1.4 million this season. Broncos football chief John Elway said he appreciated Lloyd’s hard work and wished him well, adding via Twitter: “I’m excited about our wide receiver group — This is as healthy as we’ve been at that position since the start of the year. Our young WRs have really emerged and made some plays, and this is a great opportunity for them to continue to step up.” The remaining receivers learned of Lloyd’s departure when he was absent from their morning meeting Monday.
Although, to be honest, Lloyd’s only got the look; Sports Illustrated reports that Lloyd, New England’s “most targeted receiver” hadn’t found the end zone until this touchdown, his first score of the four-week NFL season. And on the topic of honesty, one blown lead in the veritable galaxy of Buffalo Bills disappointment ain’t worth half a Flutie flake. Still, it must hurt that Buffalo specializes in making the opposing team look good, even when it isn’t . Reddit got a hold of this photo of Brandon Lloyd and shot it to the top of the social news community’s front page heat chart, with a comment trail that oozed sarcastic adoration. “Number 85 on the field, number 1 in your heart,” wrote user “SavinThatBacon.” This is the second tidbit of Pats media to make Reddit’s front page today, with an angry Tom Brady GIF going viral earlier. PFT: 49ers spoke with Brandon Lloyd, were rebuffed
It turns out the 49ers may have already approached him. Pro Football Talk is reporting that the 49ers, Patriots and Jets were among at least six teams to contact Lloyd . According to PFT, Lloyd rejected all the teams. According to PFT’s source, Lloyd is not interested because he does not feel he is physically or mentally ready to continue in the NFL. It is worth noting that the report does not provide a timeline for these contacts. If this is all true, I give Lloyd some credit.
Pats did indeed contact Lloyd about returning
Hes listed as having gone full on the teams final injury report and is officially questionable for the date with Peyton Manning and the Broncos. Barring a recurrence of concussion symptoms after practicing, though, its a good bet that the Giants will have Amukamara on the corner. Theyre going to need all hands on deck to stop the Broncos passing game and Amukamaras full participation on Friday indicates hes passed every one of the tests required by the concussion protocol to this point. Less clear is the status of safety Antrel Rolle . He didnt practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday with a groin injury that comes on the heels of the sprained ankle that slowed Rolle in the preseason.
